Urinary Tract Infection


The pain / burning when urinating is a common complaint encountered, especially for children & women. The most common cause of pain / burning when urination is urinary tract infection (UTI / UTI). The infection is caused by a variety of germs that attack the urinary bladder from the start until the kidney. UTI actually not a difficult disease to treat, however, if not treated appropriately, can be other diseases are more serious, such as stones in the urinary tract and kidney, bloody urine, can even lead to kidney damage, kidney disease, or infection whole body can be life threatening. 





UTI is more common in women because the channel between the bladder to the outside world on women shorter than men, so that the germs more easily reach the bladder. UTI are also more apt to occur because of the anus in women is located adjacent to the pubic lips & mouth of the urinary tract, so that germs from the digestive tract & the birth canal can cause infections in the urinary tract. 

While in children, UTI is often easy to occur because the bladder system anatomical abnormalities or lack of good personal hygiene, including child how to wipe the wrong & genitalia that rarely cleaned properly in the bath or after micturition.
UTI can also occur due to inappropriate use of soap so that it can trigger inflammation of the mouth of the urinary tract. 

In infants and children, usually only a symptom of fever UTI. In adolescents or adults, often encountered the feeling of pain / burning during urination, a frequent urination, pain in lower abdomen / waist, urine is usually a muddy, bloody, or smells dreadful, fever, & complaints difficult urination. 

UTI should be treated by a doctor because of necessary treatment that can only be obtained by prescription. For UTI caused by bacteria, then the UTI treated with antibiotics. For patients who have anatomical abnormalities of the urinary tract, your doctor may recommend improvements in the operation.
UTI can be prevented by means of: 
  • For infants / children: Frequently changing diapers, education about personal hygiene, cleaning the genitals after urination & in the bath, cebok with direction from front to back, do not withhold urination, use underwear made of cotton, & drinking sufficient. 
  • For teens & adults: taking in adequate amounts, use underwear made of cotton, cebok from front to back, do not withhold micturition.
